Training the Performance Horse

The AEBC training system is based on providing clear and consistent signals/responses to reduce the horse's anxiety levels and optimise the desired learning. The goal is to train the horse to be completely obedient to light aids in a relaxed, attentive and cooperative manner. When the training principles that arise from learning theory and equitation are amalgamated and put into best practice, the result is a mix of Classical (French) training and learning theory. This approach, to train the horse to respond but also maintain his own responses and carriage, is applied in every aspect of training, for horses at all levels.

Training for dressage and performance is refined in our indoor and outdoor dressage arenas, focusing on immediate responses from a relaxed horse. The horse is trained in all gaits and to work in straight lines, curved lines and lateral movements. The basics are also applied to a range of different situations including our cross country course and obstacles such as bridges, arches, narrow spaces and water.

The AEBC team are all experienced competitors and coaches across the full spectrum of equestrian events. With expertise at the highest levels, the AEBC has a high profile at the top level of riding, training and education.
