Mounted Police Adopt AEBC Training Methods
For some time now the AEBC has been integral in developing optimal ways of training horses for highly demanding roles in the Mounted Police forces of Western Australia and Victoria. Consequently in the first week of June we conducted clinic for both forces. The clinic was attended by 3 trainers from Western Australia and 4 from Victoria. This was the first conference of Mounted police from different states of Australia and thus flow on benefits from sharing of knowledge ensued.
The West Australians used AEBC school horses while the Victorians brought 8 of their own. The clinic focused on building and consolidating reliable responses in challenging situations and also resulted in the production of an extensive document on assessment procedures for new recruit police horses.
