A paradigm shift in horse training....

The Australian Equine Behaviour Centre is the most internationally recognised horse training and behaviour modification centre in Australia. The AEBC initiated and continues to improve its simple, logical system for training horses that is today applied by many of the world's best riders and trainers.

The AEBC approach is unique in that it combines classical training with a strong emphasis on scientific understanding of animal psychology and horse behaviour. Dr Andrew McLean, together with his wife Manuela, conceived and developed the training system and established the AEBC in 1991. Andrew McLean holds a PhD in horse training psychology (Thesis title "The mental processes of the horse and their consequences for training"), has authored several international best-selling books on horse behaviour and is in constant demand as a lecturer and demonstrator around the world.

Decades of research, coaching and competition experience have produced the worlds first evidence based (based on scientific research) horse training system that is both ethical (does not have negative welfare implications) and sustainable (will serve riders and trainers well into the future).

The AEBC training system is relevant for both horse and rider, across all levels; ranging from foundation training (breaking-in), to children's riding lessons, right up to FEI level dressage. It applies to every equestrian discipline, from pony club to polo, racing and showjumping, and the principles apply to all situations, whether it's learning to lead in-hand, float (trailer-load) and shoe calmly, jump obstacles obediently, calmly and straight, turn effectively, come-up on command, or perform challenging tricks. The emphasis in all aspects of training is on relaxation, attentiveness and self-carriage.

The AEBC offers a step-by-step program that is designed to arrive at specific training goals. The learning theory that supports our philosophy is firmly based on the most modern scientific study.

The system is revolutionary and the results speak for themselves.
